Descent of the Ganges & Pancha Pandava Rathas
Located 16 km from the resort, a 20 minute car journey will take the guests to these ancient 7th century monument complexes that represent the classic gigantic Indian rock-cut architecture, which remains unmatched to this date. Descent of the Ganges depicts the story of the descent of the sacred river Ganges to Earth from heaven led by Lord Shiva; and the Pancha Pandava Rathas houses five (pancha) monuments which resembles a chariot (ratha) named after the Pandavas and their common wife Draupadi, of the ancient Indian epic Mahabharata fame.
Shore Temple, Mahabalipuram
Located at a distance of 21 kms away from ITC Vilasa, the Shore Temple is synonymous with Mahabalipuram’s skyline and the region’s rich cultural heritage.
Overlooking the Bay of Bengal, the temple was initiated by King Narsimha Varma I in the 7th century and is a combination of three shrines dedicated to the Hindu gods, Shiva (the destroyer) and Vishnu (the preserver). This structural granite complex has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984.
Guindy National Park, Chennai
It is the 8th smallest National Park of India and one of the very few national parks situated inside a city. A 50 minute car journey covering 34 km will take the guests to the home of blackbucks, spotted deers, jackals, a wide variety of snakes, geckos, tortoises, and over 130 species of birds, 14 species of mammals, and over 60 butterflies and spiders each. The park attracts more than 700,000 visitors every year.
